After a slight contraction to 398.4 thousand tons in 2021, the market stabilized, reaching 401.0 thousand tons by 2023. This period saw minimal year-to-year fluctuations, indicating a steady domestic consumption pattern.

In 2024, the Malagasy government introduced measures to revitalize banana exports, including land access facilitation in Brickaville and farmer training programs, alongside broader agro-industrial policies aimed at strengthening local production and quality standards.
