By 2024, the market had regained momentum, reaching 9.5 million tonnes. This recovery was underpinned by an 8.1% increase in bitumen consumption for asphalt mixtures in 2023, reflecting sectoral revival. Furthermore, substantial urban infrastructure investments, such as Madrid's 'Operation Asphalt 2024' with €16.4 million allocated for pavement renewal using warm mixes and recycled materials, stimulated demand. Concurrently, the adoption of sustainable practices, digitalization, and new regulations promoting circular economy principles supported market activity.
