The Czech argon market volume fluctuated between 2018 and 2024, starting at 36.7 million cubic meters in 2018 and ending at 28.9 million cubic meters in 2024. A significant contraction occurred in 2021, when volume fell to 27.4 million cubic meters, followed by a modest recovery to 30.3 million cubic meters in 2023. However, the market volume declined again in 2024, remaining below the 2018 level.

In value terms, the market showed a different trajectory. After decreasing from 29.4 million US dollars in 2018 to 22.1 million in 2020, it rebounded sharply to 50.8 million in 2023, before settling at 43.5 million in 2024. This surge in market value, particularly in 2022-2023, indicates a substantial increase in argon prices, even as physical volume remained relatively stable.

Production argon in Czechia

After two consecutive years of decline, Czechia's argon production rebounded in 2021. The output value reached 28 164 thousand US dollars, marking a 14.0% increase compared to the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, production decreased by 10.9%, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.8%. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 24 699 thousand US dollars, while the largest decline occurred in 2019 at 13.0%.

From 2018 to 2021, Poland, Slovakia, and Germany consistently held the top positions in Czechia's argon export structure by volume. Poland accounted for 46.4% of exports, Slovakia for 33.2%, and Germany for 7.5%, together comprising 87.1% of total export flows.
