Earlier Report Observations

The apricot market in India began the period at 16,302 tons in 2018 and grew to 16,468 tons in 2019. This initial increase coincided with the government's enhancement and continuation of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) policy for mandated crops, which aimed to secure farmer incomes and encourage stable agricultural output.

From 2020 to 2022, the market volume showed resilience with a slight contraction to 16,322 tons in 2020 followed by a recovery to 16,403 tons in 2021 and a more pronounced rise to 16,724 tons in 2022. The overall upward trajectory during these years reflected a steady market expansion.

A significant surge in the apricot market occurred in 2023, with volume reaching 17,549 tons. This growth took place alongside discussions on the necessity of government interventions to support local industries and stabilize market conditions. Looking ahead to 2024, policy measures such as the revision of the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) and the continued fixation of MSPs for key crops were announced, indicating an ongoing framework of agricultural market support.
