Earlier Report Observations

The apricot market in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia exhibited considerable volatility from 2018 to 2023. Market volume peaked at 344 thousand tons in 2019, then contracted sharply to 298 thousand tons in 2020. After a further slight decline to 288 thousand tons in 2021, it rebounded strongly to 334 thousand tons in 2022 before easing to 325 thousand tons in 2023.

This fluctuation was driven by opposing trends in domestic production and imports. Local apricot output fell steadily from 256 thousand tons in 2018 to 180 thousand tons in 2023, a drop of nearly 30%. Meanwhile, imports more than compensated, rising from 88 thousand tons to 150 thousand tons over the same period, which helped stabilize overall market supply.
