Consumer preferences shifted towards healthy and convenient vegetables such as sugar snaps, boosting domestic demand and export requirements. Zimbabwe's non-GMO policy aligned with global trends, providing a competitive edge in fresh vegetable markets and encouraging production growth.

The sharp increase in 2022 was driven by expansion plans from companies like NutriFarm, which aimed to scale up production and add value through processing. Concurrently, the focus on organic certification for European markets and the development of new product segments like microgreens stimulated further output growth, leading to a peak in market volume.
