Slovenia's production of alliaceous vegetables has grown for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 14 730 tonnes, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 16.4%. Over the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 24%, with an average annual growth rate of 7.4%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 11 840 tonnes, which saw a slight decline of 0.4%.

The data shows irregular fluctuations, pointing to a volatile market environment. Export volumes reached their lowest point in 2020 at 3 118 tonnes, a 25.2% drop from 2019, while peaking in 2018 at 6 028 tonnes. This represents a 1.9-fold difference between the highest and lowest years. The sharpest decline occurred in 2019 with a 30.8% decrease, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 91.1%.

From 2017 to 2020, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Italy were the leading destinations for Slovenia's alliaceous vegetable exports in volume terms. Croatia accounted for 36.1% of exports, Bosnia and Herzegovina for 17.1%, and Italy for 14.8%, together making up 68.1% of total export flows.

Between 2017 and 2020, Italy, Croatia, and Austria formed the key group of partners for Slovenia's alliaceous vegetable exports in value terms. Italy represented 39.7% of exports, Croatia 31.0%, and Austria 8.7%, collectively accounting for 79.4% of total export value.

From 2017 to 2020, Austria, the Netherlands, and Italy were the main suppliers of alliaceous vegetables to Slovenia in volume terms. Austria contributed 33.6% of imports, the Netherlands 24.2%, and Italy 11.1%, together comprising 68.8% of total import volume.
