The entry of new players focusing on precision agriculture and IoT, along with the launch of new segments such as autonomous tractors, stimulated innovation. Major companies invested in research and development, and in 2021, the opening of new production facilities for autonomous and electric tractors increased manufacturing capacity.

Domestic consumption, measured as market size, declined from 198.3 million $ in 2020 to 165.8 million $ in 2022. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused temporary supply chain disruptions and increased demand for machinery rentals, which may have reduced direct purchases. In 2022, the introduction of stricter environmental regulations in Sweden, covering emissions and energy efficiency of machinery, affected costs and demand. In 2023 and 2024, exports remained high, reaching 337.2 million $ in 2023 and slightly decreasing to 326.2 million $ in 2024, while imports stabilized around 240 million $.
