TMO Receives Bids of $1,399-$1,408.50 per Tonne in Sunflower Oil Tender
Türkiye’s TMO received its best offers at $1,399-$1,408.50 per tonne in a tender for 12,000 tonnes of sunflower oil. The proposed deliveries to İskenderun or Mersin are scheduled between 21 September and 16 October, subject to official approval.
TMO evaluates offers for 12,000 tonnes
Türkiye’s state grain agency, Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi (TMO), has received offers in its tender to purchase 12,000 tonnes of sunflower oil. The best bids ranged from $1,399 to $1,408.50 per tonne, Bloomberg HT reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The tender provides a current procurement benchmark for a sizeable state purchase in Türkiye’s edible-oil market. The quoted prices, however, are not directly comparable without considering their different delivery terms. The results also remain subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
Aves submits the lowest quoted price
Aves offered 9,000 tonnes at $1,399 per tonne for delivery to either İskenderun or Mersin Port. According to Bloomberg HT, the offer was submitted on CFR terms, under which the quoted price includes the cost of the goods and freight to the named destination port.
This lot represents three-quarters of the tendered volume. If approved at the reported price, its nominal value would be about $12.59 million. That calculation is based solely on the stated volume and unit price and does not account for any contractual adjustments or additional costs outside the quoted CFR terms.
Pamyag bids for the remaining volume
Pamyag submitted an offer of $1,408.50 per tonne for 3,000 tonnes, also associated with delivery to İskenderun or Mersin Port. Bloomberg HT described the bid as being made on EXW terms. Under standard commercial usage, EXW places substantially more transport responsibility on the buyer than CFR, making the headline prices unsuitable for a simple like-for-like comparison.
At the reported unit price, the nominal value of Pamyag’s lot would be approximately $4.23 million. Taken together, the two leading offers cover the full 12,000 tonnes and imply a nominal combined value of roughly $16.82 million. This total is an arithmetic estimate, not an announced contract value, and the differing trade terms may materially affect TMO’s final delivered cost.
Delivery window runs into mid-October
The sunflower oil is expected to be delivered between 21 September and 16 October. The use of İskenderun or Mersin gives the procurement access to two major Mediterranean ports and may provide flexibility in allocating cargoes, storage and inland distribution.
For suppliers and edible-oil market participants, the tender offers a transparent indication of prices acceptable in a Turkish state procurement process at the time bids were submitted. Its broader significance will depend on official approval, the final allocation between suppliers and how TMO evaluates the cost difference created by the CFR and EXW conditions.
