Turkey’s chicken meat output rises 5.5% in July as egg production jumps 17.2%
Turkey produced 251,861 tonnes of chicken meat in July 2026, up 5.5% year on year and 8.4% from June. Chicken egg production reached 1.904 billion units, an annual increase of 17.2%, according to TÜİK data reported by Sözcü and Dünya.
Chicken meat production reaches 251,861 tonnes
Turkey’s chicken meat and egg industries expanded in July 2026, with both segments recording gains from the previous month and a year earlier. Data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, or TÜİK, showed that chicken meat production reached 251,861 tonnes during the month. Sözcü and Dünya reported that this represented growth of 5.5% compared with July 2025 and 8.4% compared with June 2026.
The monthly increase was particularly pronounced. According to Son Dakika, chicken meat production rose from 232,238 tonnes in June to 251,861 tonnes in July. The addition of 19,623 tonnes within one month indicates that processors handled substantially more output as the third quarter began, although the official figures do not specify whether the change reflected stronger demand, flock availability or seasonal production patterns.
The number of chickens slaughtered also increased, but more slowly than meat output. Turkey recorded 133.407 million slaughtered chickens in July, 1.8% more than in the same month of 2025. The difference between the 5.5% rise in meat volume and the 1.8% increase in slaughter numbers suggests a higher average meat yield per slaughtered bird, although TÜİK’s published figures cited by the three outlets did not provide bird-weight data.
Egg output records stronger annual growth
Chicken egg production reached 1.904042 billion units in July. Output rose 17.2% from July 2025 and 3.5% from the previous month, according to TÜİK figures reported by Sözcü and Dünya. Son Dakika placed June production at 1.838966 billion eggs, meaning that farms supplied 65.076 million more eggs in July than in June.
The egg segment therefore maintained a much faster annual growth rate than chicken meat or slaughter activity. For farmers, packing businesses and food manufacturers, the larger supply expands the volume available to the domestic market and downstream processing. The source material does not provide farm-gate or wholesale prices, consumption figures, production costs, inventory levels or export data, so the effect of the additional output on margins and trade cannot yet be quantified.
Seven-month data show a broader expansion
Production gains were also visible across the first seven months of 2026, although the pace differed substantially by category. From January through July, chicken egg production increased 18.4% compared with the same period of 2025. The number of chickens slaughtered grew 1.3%, while chicken meat production increased 1.1%, according to TÜİK data cited by Sözcü, Dünya and Son Dakika.
The cumulative figures show that eggs were the principal growth area in Turkey’s poultry sector during the period. July’s 5.5% annual rise in chicken meat was considerably stronger than the 1.1% gain recorded over the first seven months, while July egg growth of 17.2% was close to the cumulative rate of 18.4%. Poultry producers, feed suppliers and processors will now be watching whether the stronger monthly meat output continues and whether the rapid expansion in egg supply is absorbed without pressure on producer returns.
