Turkey’s chicken meat output rises 14.7% in June as egg production gains 21%
Turkey produced 232,238 tonnes of chicken meat in June 2026, up 14.7% year on year and 14.8% from May, according to TÜİK data. Egg output increased 21% year on year to 1,838,966,000 units, although it declined 1% month on month.
Chicken meat production accelerates in June
Turkey’s chicken meat production reached 232,238 tonnes in June 2026, rising 14.7% from the same month a year earlier, according to poultry production statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, or TÜİK. The monthly increase was 14.8%, indicating a sharp acceleration from May rather than merely a favorable annual comparison.
Dünya reported that chicken meat output had stood at 202,336 tonnes in May. The move to 232,238 tonnes in June therefore added almost 30,000 tonnes of production within one month. For processors, wholesalers and food-service buyers, the figures point to a substantial short-term increase in domestic availability.
The number of chickens slaughtered also rose strongly. Ensonhaber and Ekonomim said slaughter reached 123,325,000 birds in June, 14.4% more than in the corresponding month of the previous year. The close alignment between growth in slaughter numbers and meat output suggests that the June increase was driven primarily by higher processing volumes.
Egg output grows annually but eases from May
Chicken egg production totaled 1,838,966,000 units in June, an increase of 21% year on year. The annual gain was much larger than that recorded for chicken meat and represents a sizeable expansion in supply for retailers, food manufacturers and other commercial egg users.
The monthly picture was different. Egg production fell 1% from May, when it totaled 1,857,150,000 units, according to Dünya. June output was therefore about 18.2 million eggs below the previous month despite remaining well above its year-earlier level. The data indicate that the market retained strong annual supply growth even as the immediate monthly momentum softened.
First-half figures show uneven growth
The strong June results contrast with more moderate growth across the first six months of the year. From January through June, chicken meat production increased only 0.3% compared with the same period a year earlier, while the number of chickens slaughtered rose 1.2%, TÜİK data cited by the three publications showed.
Egg production was the clear exception, expanding 18.6% year on year during the January-June period. This means the 21% annual rise recorded in June broadly continued an already strong first-half trend, while the double-digit June increase in chicken meat followed a much flatter performance over the full six-month period.
Supply implications for poultry businesses
The figures do not include prices, costs, inventories or export volumes, so they do not establish whether the additional production improved producer margins or translated into larger overseas sales. They nevertheless show that Turkish poultry processors handled considerably more birds and meat in June, while egg suppliers maintained output far above the previous year’s level.
Industry participants will need subsequent monthly data to determine whether June’s chicken meat increase marked a lasting change in production or a temporary concentration of slaughter and processing. For the egg market, the combination of 18.6% first-half growth and a 21% June increase signals a more sustained expansion in supply, even after the small decline from May.
