Turkey exported 54,000 tonnes of fresh and 53,000 tonnes of dried apricots in 2025

Turkey exported 54,000 tonnes of fresh apricots and 53,000 tonnes of dried apricots in 2025, according to agriculture ministry data cited by Posta. Production in Malatya is now moving toward normal levels after agricultural frost reduced yields last year.

Fresh and dried exports were almost evenly balanced

Turkey exported 54,000 tonnes of fresh apricots and 53,000 tonnes of dried apricots in 2025, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Agricultural Products Markets report cited by Posta. The figures put combined exports across the two categories at 107,000 tonnes, with only 1,000 tonnes separating fresh and dried shipments.

The close balance is commercially significant because fresh and dried apricots serve different supply chains. Fresh fruit depends on rapid handling and access to suitable destination markets, while drying extends the product’s commercial life and supports sales over a longer period. Turkey’s volumes show that both channels remained substantial in 2025 rather than one format accounting for nearly all exports.

Malatya production is recovering after frost

Malatya remains the center most closely associated with Turkey’s apricot sector. Posta reported that orchards in the province are bearing fruit again and that production is gradually returning to normal. The recovery follows an agricultural frost in the previous year that reduced yields.

The publication described the current season as abundant and reported a clear increase in both the crop and exports this year, although it did not provide new volume estimates. For growers, processors and exporters, the recovery means more fruit may become available after the frost-constrained harvest. The eventual market effect will depend on the quality and timing of fruit reaching fresh buyers and drying facilities.

Festival highlights the crop’s economic role

Malatya Metropolitan Municipality and the Malatya Governor’s Office organized the Apricot Festival and Fair from 17 to 21 July 2026. The event, held for the 28th time, was intended to mark the more abundant harvest and emphasize the importance of apricots to the province.

At the fair, Malatya Metropolitan Mayor Sami Er said the city was looking to the future with greater confidence and that local authorities were beginning a new period aimed at strengthening social and cultural life. For the apricot industry, the festival coincided with a season in which orchards were recovering and reported export activity was rising. The 2025 data provide a firm benchmark for evaluating that recovery: 54,000 tonnes of fresh exports and 53,000 tonnes of dried exports. Buyers and processors will now be watching whether greater availability in Malatya can be converted into sustained shipments across both product categories without weakening quality.
