Bosnia’s TT Kabeli builds €40 million medium- and high-voltage cable factory in Croatia

TT Kabeli expands into higher-voltage products

TT Kabeli, a cable producer based in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is building a factory for medium- and high-voltage power cables in Poznanovec, in Croatia’s municipality of Bedekovčina. The investment is the largest project undertaken by the company since its establishment and will extend its product range beyond the low-voltage cables it currently manufactures.

The company puts the value of the first phase at €40 million, while Croatian broadcaster HRT reported that the investment exceeds €40 million. The plant will manufacture power cables for voltages ranging from 10 kV to 220 kV. This gives TT Kabeli access to a product segment used in electricity distribution and transmission infrastructure, where technical requirements and testing needs are substantially higher than in the low-voltage market.

Construction began in July 2024 in the Poznanovec business zone. TT Kabeli originally scheduled completion and the start of production for the fourth quarter of 2025. More recent reporting from HRT described the site as still under construction, indicating that the original timetable was not met.

Twelve lines across six production stages

According to TT Kabeli, the new facility will cover 15,000 square metres and contain 12 production lines spanning all six stages of the manufacturing process. The company also plans to install testing equipment intended to verify product quality and safety. A local report by Zagorje International gave a larger factory area of 18,000 square metres; the company’s own project description states 15,000 square metres.

The Croatian operation will be TT Kabeli’s third factory. The group has manufacturing operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia, while its corporate presence extends to Croatia, Lithuania, Austria, Serbia, Romania and Turkey. TT Kabeli says it already exports low-voltage cables to more than 40 countries.

The Poznanovec investment therefore combines additional capacity with a change in product mix. Rather than merely increasing output in its established low-voltage category, the company is adding medium- and high-voltage cable manufacturing. For buyers and infrastructure contractors, the plant could provide another regional source of cables used in grid construction and modernization. For TT Kabeli, production inside Croatia also creates a manufacturing base within the European Union.

A broader investment plan

The €40 million factory represents the first phase of a larger plan. TT Kabeli estimates that total investment at the site could reach about €100 million. Zagorje International reported that the initial phase was expected to create around 80 jobs, although the final workforce for the fully developed project has not been specified.

Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar visited the construction site after opening a new laboratory at the nearby Končar Institute of Electrical Engineering. HRT reported that he linked the project to Croatia’s planned industrial development strategy and its support for electrical-industry projects. The visit places the factory within Croatia’s effort to strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity, although TT Kabeli remains a privately controlled cross-border investor from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The immediate commercial test will be the commissioning of the 12 lines and qualification of cables across the planned 10 kV-to-220 kV range. Until production begins, the project remains an investment in future capacity rather than operating supply. Its scale, however, would give TT Kabeli a broader position in Europe’s power-cable industry and add a new producer of higher-voltage cable products in Croatia.
