Iran Opens Electronic Import Registration for Five Types of Oilseed Meal
Iran will allow electronic import-order registration for soybean, sunflower, safflower, cottonseed and rapeseed meals from 9 Shahrivar 1405. Orders will not be subject to importers’ previous trading-record ceilings.
Registration opens through national trade system
Iran will open import-order registration for five types of oilseed meal from 9 Shahrivar 1405, according to Mehr News Agency. The products covered are soybean meal, sunflower meal, safflower meal, cottonseed meal and rapeseed meal, all of which are used as feed materials for the country’s livestock and poultry sectors.
Importers will be able to submit their orders electronically through Iran’s Comprehensive Trade System. The announcement establishes a single system-based channel for registering purchases of the five products, rather than describing separate procedures for each type of meal.
The Ministry of Agriculture said the measure implements a decision by the Market Regulation Headquarters. Its stated purpose is to facilitate imports of basic and essential goods. The notice does not specify import volumes, country allocations, tariff changes, foreign-exchange arrangements or delivery deadlines.
Previous trading-record ceiling removed
A central provision is that registrations will be accepted without applying the ceiling linked to an importer’s previous trading record. Under the announced procedure, merchants are therefore not restricted by that historical ceiling when registering orders for the covered oilseed meals.
The change concerns eligibility to register an import order. Mehr’s report does not say that other requirements governing customs clearance, financing, product standards or regulatory approvals have been removed. It also does not identify individual companies that intend to use the new registration window.
Removing the record-based ceiling could broaden participation among traders able to seek supplies abroad. For established importers, it removes a stated constraint on order registration; for companies with a smaller import history, it may improve access to the administrative process. Actual purchasing will still depend on commercial conditions that were not detailed in the announcement, including supplier availability, freight costs and payment arrangements.
Feed industry gains access to a wider meal basket
The five products serve as inputs for livestock and poultry feed, making the measure directly relevant to feed manufacturers, animal producers and commodity traders. Soybean meal is covered alongside four alternative oilseed meals: sunflower, safflower, cottonseed and rapeseed. The range gives buyers the administrative ability to register orders across several protein-meal categories, although the notice does not prescribe how they should be used or substituted in feed formulations.
For foreign suppliers and exporters, the immediate development is the opening of Iran’s electronic order-registration process for all five categories on the specified date. The commercial impact will become clearer when registered orders translate into purchases and shipments. Until volumes, origins and financing terms are disclosed, the announcement should be read as a change in import access rather than evidence of a defined increase in Iranian oilseed-meal imports.
