InfraTech Cables selects Poland for new European fibre-optic manufacturing and R&D hub
InfraTech Cables, the fibre-optic cable platform developed by US digital infrastructure investor InfraTech Capital, has chosen Poland for its next European production and technology campus. The fully funded project combines high-density optical cable manufacturing with an Optical Communications Center of Excellence and a qualification centre serving AI data centres and telecom networks. Site, capacity, employment and construction timing have not yet been disclosed.
InfraTech Cables, the fibre-optic cable manufacturing platform developed by US digital infrastructure investor InfraTech Capital, has selected Poland for its next European production and technology hub. The announcement, issued from Milan and Warsaw and reported by ImpresaCity, states that the project is fully funded by InfraTech Capital and investment partners aligned with the initiative, and that it will be developed under the leadership and supervision of InfraTech Capital Italia.
The company frames the site as a long-term European manufacturing base for advanced optical connectivity serving AI and hyperscale data centres, telecom operators, broadband networks and other high-capacity digital infrastructure. According to ImpresaCity, it is structured as an integrated manufacturing, engineering and qualification platform rather than a conventional production plant.
Product scope built around high-density networks
Planned manufacturing capabilities cover:
- loose-tube cable architectures
- microcables
- ADSS (all-dielectric self-supporting) cables
- high-fibre-count cables
- advanced rollable ribbon solutions
The emphasis is on high-density designs for applications in which fibre capacity, cable diameter, duct utilisation, installation efficiency and network scalability are becoming increasingly critical. The facility is designed around a modular production architecture, allowing capacity and product range to be expanded in line with customer requirements and shifting demand.
Research and qualification on the same campus
The campus will include an Optical Communications Center of Excellence with dedicated research and development, product engineering and an Optical Engineering and Qualification Center. These facilities are intended to support new product development, materials and process engineering, prototype evaluation, customer-specific qualifications and optical, mechanical and environmental testing in line with applicable international standards and customer requirements.
“High-density optical networks require much more than an increase in production capacity,” said Aloysio Bleyer, Chief Operating Officer of InfraTech Capital, in remarks published by ImpresaCity. “They require rigorous process control, advanced testing systems, qualified materials, engineering expertise and a supply chain able to operate consistently across different markets.” He said integrating manufacturing, R&D and qualification on the same campus allows those capabilities to be built from the outset, adding that the operating model was designed around process repeatability, qualification rigour and the ability to scale.
Why Poland
Poland was chosen for the next development phase on the basis of its established advanced manufacturing base, the availability of technical skills, transport infrastructure and access to major European markets. InfraTech Capital Italia and InfraTech Cables are advancing work on the site, engineering, infrastructure and the institutional relations connected to the project.
The European campus is intended to complement InfraTech Cables' wider international production and sourcing network, strengthening geographic diversification, delivery-time performance and supply chain resilience. InfraTech Capital Italia will oversee the European development programme from Milan, coordinating project execution, strategic partnerships, engineering, supply chain development and regional commercial activity, while InfraTech Capital retains the role of financial sponsor with governance and strategic oversight. InfraTech Cables is to progressively develop its own industrial, engineering and commercial identity.
Key details still undisclosed
The company has not disclosed the final site, production capacity, employment levels, the construction schedule or the start of operations. ImpresaCity reports that further information will be released as the next development phases advance.
“This investment represents an important step in building InfraTech Cables as an industrial player with its own global operating platform,” said Luiz Fuschini, President and Chairman of InfraTech Capital. “The financial structure is defined, the European organisation for the development of the project is operational, and the priority now is execution.” He said the objective is to build an industrial business able to support the next generation of optical infrastructure, with particular attention to the density and performance requirements driven by artificial intelligence, hyperscale computing and the growing complexity of telecom networks.
