Ikon Tyres Takes 20% of Russia’s Crossover-Tire Sales as Demand Rises
Ikon Tyres led Russian crossover and SUV tire sales in July 2026 with a 20% share, according to Avito data reported by Za Rulem. Its sales rose 84% year on year as overall demand for SUV tires increased 14%.
Ikon Tyres moves ahead of established brands
Russia’s market for crossover and sport utility vehicle tires shifted toward locally produced brands in July 2026, as demand increased alongside growing interest in four-wheel-drive vehicles. Ikon Tyres took first place by sales volume, while Nordman recorded one of the market’s fastest growth rates.
Analysts at the Avito platform measured a 14% year-on-year increase in overall demand for SUV tires, according to Russian automotive publication Za Rulem. Ikon Tyres’ sales rose 84%, the largest reported increase among the named brands. Nordman followed with growth of 79%.
The gains were considerably stronger than those recorded by several international competitors. Demand for South Korea’s Kumho increased by one-third, while demand for Michelin rose by one-quarter. The figures indicate that Russian buyers are considering a wider range of suppliers rather than remaining tied to a single established manufacturer.
Sales shares show a fragmented competitive field
Ikon Tyres accounted for 20% of sales, placing it ahead of Nokian Tyres at 17% and Michelin at 15%. Hankook held an 8% share and Goodyear 5%, completing the five largest brands by volume in the Avito data reported by Za Rulem.
Beyond the leading group, China’s Triangle represented 4% of sales. Russia’s Cordiant held 3%, followed by Kumho at 2.6%, China’s Sailun at 2.5% and Nordman at 2.3%. Nordman’s relatively small share, despite its 79% sales increase, suggests that its growth came from a lower starting base. Ikon Tyres combined rapid expansion with sufficient scale to overtake larger incumbents.
The ranking also shows that brand origin alone does not determine demand. Russian, European, South Korean and Chinese names are all present among the leading suppliers. For manufacturers and distributors, competition therefore extends across price points, available sizes and the ability to supply tires suited to the country’s crossover and off-road vehicle fleet.
Vehicle demand supports the tire market
The change in tire sales coincided with a 25% increase in July interest in used crossovers and SUVs, Za Rulem reported, citing market experts. Lada 4x4 remained the most sought-after four-wheel-drive model, alongside the Toyota RAV4 and Chevrolet Niva. A larger active fleet of these vehicles supports replacement-tire demand and expands the addressable market for suppliers.
Market expectations cited by the publication point to stronger interest closer to autumn, when drivers prepare for rain and snow. That seasonal pattern makes product availability and size coverage important for tire producers, wholesalers and retailers. The July results give Ikon Tyres a leading position before that period, while Nordman’s growth makes it a smaller but increasingly relevant competitor. International brands retain substantial combined sales, but the reported figures show that domestic alternatives have gained both buyer attention and measurable market share.
