The highest volume was recorded in 2018 at 11 094 tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 2.9%. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 24.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, China was the largest supplier of wood marquetry, inlaid wood, wooden caskets and cases for jewellery or cutlery, and similar wooden furniture not classified in chapter 94 to Italy, accounting for 42.3% of import volumes. The Netherlands followed with 12.5%, and Romania with 7.9%. Together, these three countries formed 62.6% of total import volumes.
