From 2018 to 2023, the Seychelles wood in the rough market volume fluctuated between 8 380 t and 9 259 t, with a peak of 9 259 t in 2019. Domestic production remained constant at 8 346 t annually, so all market movements were driven by changes in imports, which surged to 913 t in 2019 before falling sharply.

After the 2019 peak, the market declined by 7.5% in 2020 to 8 560 t and saw a further slight decrease to 8 380 t in 2021. A modest recovery followed in 2022, bringing the volume to 8 557 t, with the market stabilizing at 8 488 t in 2023 as import levels partially rebounded from their 2021 low.

In 2024, the Cabinet approved the Seychelles Sustainable Forest Management Policy to enhance the economic contribution of forests through sustainable practices and biodiversity conservation. The government also introduced the Agricultural Development Fund to finance small and medium agricultural projects, which could influence wood demand.
