The market for wheat bran, sharps and residues in Georgia fluctuated between 2018 and 2023, with total volume peaking at 116 thousand tons in 2020 before declining to 96.5 thousand tons by 2023. Domestic production followed a similar trend, reaching 108 thousand tons in 2020 but then contracting sharply to under 50 thousand tons in the following two years.

The pronounced drop in local output from 2021 onward coincided with a substantial rise in imports, which increased from under 10 thousand tons annually to over 50 thousand tons in 2022 and 2023. This surge in foreign supply helped stabilize the overall market size near 97-98 thousand tons in the latter period, though it remained below the levels seen earlier in the decade.
