In 2020, output was valued at 30.8 million US dollars, marking a 64.1% decrease from 2019. From 2018 to 2020, production fell by 72.2%, which translates to an annualized decline rate of 34.8%.

Market performance showed significant fluctuations during this period. Imports varied by 5.5 times between the low in 2020 and the high in 2018. In 2021, Hungary exported 10,245 tonnes of travel goods, handbags, and similar containers, a 202.1% increase compared to the previous year. The lowest volume was recorded in 2020 at 3,391 tonnes, with the largest decline that year at 75.2%.

From 2018 to 2021, Italy, Czechia, and Belgium were the top destinations for Hungary's exports in kind, accounting for 20.8%, 17.8%, and 13.3% of the total, respectively. Together, they represented 51.9% of all export flows.

After a two-year decline, Hungary's exports of travel goods, handbags, and similar containers increased in 2021. Exports reached 81.6 million US dollars, up 39.9% from the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports decreased by 49.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of -20.2%. The lowest value was in 2020 at 58.3 million US dollars, when the largest decline of 56.2% occurred.

Following a two-year decrease, Hungary's imports of travel goods, handbags, and similar containers rose in 2021. Imports totaled 14,445 tonnes, a 23.0% increase from the previous year. Between 2018 and 2021, imports fell by 58.3%, equivalent to an annualized decline rate of 25.3%. The lowest volume was in 2020 at 14,445 tonnes, with the largest drop that year at 47.3%.
