A notable rebound occurred in 2020, supported by adjustments to the support premium and the continued application of Measure 13 of the Rural Development Program to address COVID-19 related disruptions in the tomato industry.

New regulatory measures in 2021, including stricter quality control and labeling requirements for industrial tomato, coincided with a slight market contraction to 869.2 thousand tonnes. The following year, market volume fell sharply to 736.2 thousand tonnes. This decline was closely linked to the broader energy crisis, which prompted a new phase of Measure 13 to bolster production within the supply chain and mitigate the crisis's impact on costs and operations.

In 2023, the market volume showed a modest recovery to 742.4 thousand tonnes. Over the same period, the market's value exhibited strong growth, rising from 345.2 million US dollars in 2018 to 435.8 million US dollars in 2023, reflecting sustained price increases amid the evolving regulatory and energy cost landscape.
