The tea market in Oceania experienced a gradual decline from 47 644 tons in 2018 to 44 240 tons in 2023, following a peak of 48 067 tons in 2019. Market volume remained relatively stable through 2020 before decreasing more noticeably in subsequent years.
Domestic tea production in the region fell from 32 381 tons to 29 700 tons between 2018 and 2021, then recovered partially to 32 000 tons by 2023. Imports, which supplement local supply, dropped sharply from 17 344 tons in 2022 to 14 300 tons in 2023 after a period of steadiness.
Exports from Oceania more than doubled from 1 812 tons in 2018 to 2 060 tons in 2023, contributing to the net reduction in available market volume. By 2023, the overall market size had settled below the levels seen at the start of the period.
