Between 2018 and 2020, the market volume for solvent-based acrylic or vinyl paints and varnishes in Poland increased from 45.9 thousand tons to 52.1 thousand tons. This growth was supported by a notable 28% rise in the production of such paints in 2018, fueled by industrial demand from large-scale investments and sectors like shipbuilding and food processing. The following year, favorable conditions in the construction and assembly market, which expanded by 6.2% year-on-year, further stimulated demand for paints and varnishes.

After 2020, import volumes declined from a peak of 34.6 thousand tons in 2019 to a range of 27–29 thousand tons in the subsequent years, while exports steadily rose, reaching 25.8 thousand tons in 2023 before a slight dip in 2024. In early 2024, Poland's GDP growth of 1.9% in the first quarter supported private consumption, although sales volume in the decorative paints segment decreased by 7% in liters.

Throughout the period, consumer preferences shifted towards more environmentally friendly and premium products, leading to a contraction in the low-cost paint segment and higher sales in mid- and high-tier price categories. The market remained concentrated, dominated by major players such as Akzo Nobel, PPG, Tikkurila, and the domestic company Śnieżka.

From 2017 to 2020, production increased by 6.9%, equating to an annualized growth rate of 2.3%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2018 at 35 557 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 13.1%.

In 2020, exports totaled 20 821 tonnes, representing a contraction of 4.0% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports grew by 9.6%, with an annualized rate of 3.1%. The peak was in 2019 at 21 689 tonnes, which also experienced the largest increase of 10.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland's exports of solvent-based acrylic or vinyl paints and varnishes in volume terms were not highly concentrated. Russia accounted for 13.8% of exports, Germany for 10.6%, and Ukraine for 7.9%, with these three countries together capturing only 32.3% of total flows.
