The increase to 86 000 t in 2019 coincided with the active role of traditional butcheries in Yaoundé, which offered cutting and preservation services tailored to consumer demand, alongside significant local livestock production from the Bamenda region supplying urban centers.

After stabilizing at 86 000 t in 2020, market volume rose gradually to 87 200 t in 2021. A substantial surge followed in 2022, reaching 104 600 t, with further growth to 106 600 t in 2023, reflecting sustained expansion in domestic production and consumption.

By 2024, the market environment was influenced by seasonal demand spikes around the Tabaski festival, affecting prices and sales activity. The hardy local Cameroon sheep breed, adapted to climatic conditions, continued to support domestic meat supply and quality.
