This period aligned with the potential opening of the Chinese market for Brazilian sesame, a significant external opportunity. Production then moderated to 35 717 t in 2023, even as genetic investments targeted oil content above 50% and yields over 1 500 kg/ha to strengthen the sector's foundation.

The market broadened its applications, with sesame oil gaining traction in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. The growing consumer preference for cold-pressed oil, valued for its antioxidant properties, and the consolidation of production in states like Mato Grosso and Goiás supported diversified demand from both domestic brands and industrial users.
