Earlier Report Observations

In 2018, the Spanish safety headgear market reached 5.6 million units, supported by national labor safety laws mandating helmet use in high-risk industries such as construction and manufacturing. The market then contracted to 4.5 million units in 2019 before recovering to 5.3 million units in 2020.

The implementation of the stricter European motorcycle helmet standard ECE 22.06 in July 2022 spurred replacement demand, driving the market volume to a peak of 7.1 million units that year. After a correction to 5.6 million units in 2023, the market grew again to 6.6 million units in 2024, fueled by the prohibition on selling new helmets with the older ECE 22.05 certification that took effect in January.
