Market volume rebounded sharply in 2021 to 837 thousand tons as the construction sector revived and stricter environmental requirements for industrial emissions and wastewater drove consumption. The following year, the implementation of new EU rules on emissions and waste management directly affected the market, creating demand in environmental applications, which helped cushion a broader decline in physical volume as domestic production fell significantly.

After 2022, the market volume in thousand tons continued to decrease, reaching 570 thousand tons in 2024. Over the full period, the market value in million USD rose above pre-pandemic levels, peaking at 120.6 million in 2023 before settling at 94.1 million in 2024, reflecting sustained demand for higher-value environmental uses amid overall volume contraction.
