PVC production in Spain increased from 531 thousand tons in 2018 to 569 thousand tons in 2020, while the domestic market volume remained stable at around 385-390 thousand tons. This production growth was supported by the expanding use of PVC in modern construction applications such as insulation, window profiles, and piping, as well as the development of improved stabilizers and additives that enhanced the utility of thermoplastic compounds. Global demand for PVC in key sectors like construction and automotive provided additional market support during this period.

After 2020, PVC imports rose, reaching 191 thousand tons by 2024, while exports declined from a peak of 326 thousand tons in 2020 to 206 thousand tons in 2023. In 2022, the market encountered raw material shortages stemming from petroleum-derived PVC and international logistics bottlenecks, which affected production and distribution. Concurrently, growing consumer interest in physical music formats boosted sales of PVC-based vinyl records, adding a diversifying element to demand. By 2023, PVC production had fallen to 404 thousand tons, yet the domestic market volume held steady at 389 thousand tons, partly due to increased imports.

The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 290.5 thousand tonnes, with the largest decline of 14.9% occurring that year. The largest increase was in 2019 at 9.9%.

The partner structure of Spain's exports in kind from 2017 to 2020 was fragmented. Turkey accounted for 17.4% of exports, France for 17.0%, and Italy for 14.5%, together making up only 48.9% of total flows, with no single country holding a dominant share.
