The Danish potato market in physical terms experienced significant growth, with volume expanding from 1.8 million tonnes in 2018 to 2.7 million tonnes in 2023, an overall increase of over 50%. This growth was not linear, as a sharp contraction in 2021 reduced the market to 2.3 million tonnes, but a steady recovery followed in the subsequent two years.

In value terms, the market more than doubled from $689 million in 2018 to $1.4 billion in 2023. The increase in market value was particularly pronounced in 2023, rising by over 35% to $1.4 billion while physical volume grew by only 5.6%, indicating a substantial change in average price or product composition during the period.
