Earlier Report Observations

The pepper market in Guyana expanded significantly from 2018 to 2023, with total volume rising from 155.6 tons to 325.0 tons. Growth was strongest in 2019 and 2020, pushing the market above 300 tons, followed by a moderate contraction in 2021. A sharp surge to 397.6 tons occurred in 2022 before the volume settled at 325.0 tons in 2023.

This market expansion coincided with a gradual decline in domestic production, which fell from 346.1 tons to 336.3 tons over the period.
