This rapid expansion was primarily driven by increasing global demand for palm oil, which directly raises production of both palm-kernel oil and its solid residue, the oilcake. Simultaneously, the industry's adoption of advanced, efficient extraction technologies, notably supercritical CO2 extraction, improved overall yield and supported higher output.

Market growth continued steadily, reaching 95 000 tonnes by 2023. The state-owned Agroindustrial Palmasa S/A played a key role by maintaining strict process controls and implementing closed-loop waste reuse systems, enhancing production sustainability. This operational approach was further reinforced by state-level solid waste management policies, such as those enacted in Bahia. Concurrently, sustained consumer preference for natural and sustainable ingredients in cosmetics and food products provided a stable demand foundation for palm-kernel oilcake.
