Market volume recovered to 712 thousand tonnes in 2022, driven by a shift in consumer preferences toward fresh and nutritious foods. Growing health awareness expanded demand for fruits and vegetables, with onions benefiting as a staple item in the fresh produce category.

The market stabilized at 704 thousand tonnes in 2023. By 2024, Peruvian onion exports to Colombia increased by 39.6%, indicating a rising influence of imported supply on market composition.
