Guatemala's production of not defatted cocoa paste grew for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 8 444 tonnes, marking a modest increase of 3.9% compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 3.7%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.2%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 7 882 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 3.2%.

During 2017-2020, Iceland, the United States, and the Netherlands were the primary destinations for Guatemala's not defatted cocoa paste exports, accounting for 94.9% of total export volume. Iceland led with 48.4%, followed by the United States at 24.3% and the Netherlands at 22.2%.
