Stable pork demand and a continued focus on meat quality helped volumes recover modestly through 2021.

The market reached its highest point in 2022 when production hit 11 922 t, driven by a surplus in domestic pork output. This oversupply prompted a sharp rise in fat exports, which reached 817 t in 2022. To rebalance the market, pork producers reduced slaughter by 5.6% in 2023, causing fat production to drop to 11 256 t and market volume to fall to 10 569 t as exports remained elevated.
