In 2022, the global energy crisis, driven by the war in Ukraine and sanctions on Russia, led to a sharp increase in the prices of natural gas and oil. This made wood fuel a more cost-competitive alternative for heating and industrial energy, which helped stabilize domestic production and slow the market's rate of decline. Production in 2022 reached 526 thousand cubic meters, a much smaller drop compared to the previous year, indicating that heightened demand for alternative energy sources provided temporary support to the sector.

By 2023, the downward trend resumed, with production falling to 488 thousand cubic meters and market volume dropping to 494 thousand cubic meters. The overall multi-year decline points to broader, structural factors such as changing energy consumption patterns and possibly constraints in raw material supply, though no specific regulatory or large-scale industrial events were reported to directly drive the market's trajectory during these years.
