Earlier Report Observations

China's milk market volume grew steadily from 36.5 million tons in 2018 to 48.3 million tons in 2023. This expansion was powered by a consistent annual rise in domestic production, which increased from 35.0 million tons to 46.8 million tons over the same period.

Import volumes provided additional supply, peaking at 2.6 million tons in 2021 before receding to 1.6 million tons in 2023. The market's growth trajectory remained upward as the strong domestic output more than compensated for the subsequent reduction in imports, while export activity was minimal.
