Earlier Report Observations
The market for not concentrated, not sweetened milk and cream in El Salvador contracted in 2019, with volume falling to 389.2 thousand tons. A sustained recovery followed, lifting the market to a peak of 448.6 thousand tons by 2022.
Growth from 2020 was driven by a 10% rise in national milk production, supported by government master plans for livestock promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. The expansion of local processors, such as Las Joyitas de Oriente in San Miguel, strengthened domestic supply and added new players to the market.
The market volume stabilized at 446.3 thousand tons in 2023. The livestock sector's continued efforts to recapture the local market with state backing and the growth of regional processing plants characterized this period.
