At the start of the period, mandarin and clementine production in Zimbabwe was supported by government initiatives to scale up horticulture output for both domestic and international citrus demand. This helped maintain production volumes around 13 400 tons in 2018 and 2019, resulting in a stable domestic market size.

From 2020, the market dynamics shifted as Zimbabwe began exporting significant quantities, which reduced the domestic market volume to 12 934 tons that year. Over the following years, production remained resilient while export levels fluctuated, allowing the market size to gradually recover to 13 361 tons by 2023, supported by modest import growth.
