The market's momentum eased slightly in 2023, with volume stabilizing at 297.4 thousand tons, remaining close to the previous year's high. In parallel, the market's value more than recovered from its 2019 decline of $328.7 million to approach $600 million by the end of the period.

From 2017 to 2020, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France remained the leading destinations for leguminous vegetable exports from Eastern Africa in value terms.
