The laminated safety glass market in Hungary, measured in value terms, expanded significantly from $65.4 million in 2018 to $112.0 million in 2024. The market saw a modest increase to $66.6 million in 2019, with the most pronounced growth occurring by the middle of the decade.

This value growth was supported by a substantial rise in import value, which climbed from $69.6 million in 2018 to a peak of $113.9 million in 2024 before declining to $87.2 million in 2025. Over the same period, export value peaked at $57.4 million in 2021 but then fell sharply to $24.0 million by 2025, indicating a shift in trade balance.

Domestic production value, in contrast, declined from $35.7 million in 2018 to $30.5 million in 2019 and further to $23.8 million in 2024. The overall market expansion was therefore driven by increased import activity and a reduction in exports, rather than by growth in local output.

Exports laminated safety glass from Hungary

The market exhibited volatility during the observed period. Export volumes reached their lowest point in 2018 and peaked in 2021, showing a 2.3-fold increase between these years. In 2021, laminated safety glass shipments from Hungary abroad totaled 44 578 tonnes, marking a significant year-over-year gain of 31.6%.
