Earlier Report Observations

The market for iron or steel radiators and air heaters in Romania experienced notable shifts between 2018 and 2024. Imports surged to a peak of 120.6 млн долл. США in 2021 from 87.1 млн долл. США in 2020, with exports also climbing to 33.3 млн долл. США that year. After 2021, imports declined to 80.2 млн долл. США by 2024, and exports fell to 27.9 млн долл. США. Domestic production mirrored this trend, dropping from 52.4 млн долл. США in 2021 to 46.4 млн долл. США in 2024. Consequently, the total market size contracted from 139.7 млн долл. США in 2021 to 98.7 млн долл. США in 2024.

The market contraction after 2021 was reinforced in 2024 by specific regulatory and consumer behavior changes. On March 20, 2024, the Romanian energy regulator ANRE introduced a regulation governing the allocation of thermal energy consumption in condominiums, which affected the installation and use of traditional radiator systems. At the same time, growing consumer preference for economical and sustainable heating solutions, such as heat pumps and electric radiators with volcanic stone, diverted demand away from classic steel radiators. Rising energy costs and an increased emphasis on smart automation and energy efficiency further reduced the appeal of conventional gas boiler systems paired with steel radiators.
