A sharp decline in exports, from a peak of 1.3 million units in 2019 to 558 000 units in 2021, further increased the supply available for domestic consumption.

Beyond 2021, import volumes stayed at high levels, reaching 9.6 million units in 2022 before moderating to 8.7 million units in 2024. Exports continued to fall dramatically, dropping to just 123 000 units in 2023, underscoring the market's heavy dependence on imported goods in the latter part of the period.
