Groundnut oil production in the Democratic Republic of the Congo increased steadily from 20 733 t in 2018 to 22 944 t in 2022, with market size growing from 20 908 t to 22 977 t over the same period. This expansion was driven by the return of peanut cultivation to the private sector after earlier civil disturbances, which revitalized commercial farming, alongside significant artisanal processing of peanuts into crude oil that added value and diversified producer incomes.

In 2023, production fell to 19 381 t and market size dropped to 19 407 t. By 2024, industry development efforts included the World Bank-funded Project to Support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PADMPME), which provided indirect support to agri-food entrepreneurs, encouraging peanut processors to aim for greater production capacity and product diversification.
