Earlier Report Observations
The fibreboard market in Western Asia experienced significant fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. After reaching a peak of 10.2 million m³ in 2018, market volume declined to 8.2 million m³ by 2020. A recovery followed in 2021, with volume climbing to 9.6 million m³, but this gain was not sustained, and the market contracted again to 8.8 million m³ in 2023.
Underlying this volatility were shifts in the market structure. Domestic production increased steadily from 5.7 million m³ to 7.0 million m³ over the period, while exports also rose. Imports, however, fell sharply, particularly after 2021. The net effect was a market increasingly supplied by local manufacturers, though the total available volume remained below its 2018 level.
