The domestic market volume for fresh or chilled edible brassicas in Albania showed considerable fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Starting at 51 550 t in 2018, it surged to a peak of 70 244 t in 2019, then contracted to 58 480 t in 2020. After stabilizing near 58 458 t in 2021, the market expanded again to 67 906 t in 2022 before declining to 56 395 t in 2023.

Production levels varied in a similar pattern, reaching 78 319 t in 2019 and moving between 72 000 t and 76 000 t in the following years. Export volumes increased substantially, from 6 200 t in 2018 to over 18 000 t in 2021, while imports remained minimal, never exceeding 266 t annually.

In 2024, Albanian food safety authorities emphasized stricter storage standards for fresh and frozen products, including vegetables, specifying temperatures between -16°C and -19°C to preserve quality. For edible brassicas, exports continued to rise, reaching 23 428 t, with imports at 213 t.

Albania produced 72 157 tonnes of edible brassicas in 2020, marking a modest decline of 7.9% compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 24.6%, with an average annual growth rate of 7.6%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 57 505 tonnes, while the peak occurred in 2019 with 78 319 tonnes. The most significant increase was observed in 2019, when production surged by 36.2%.

Albania's exports of edible brassicas grew for the second consecutive year in 2020, reaching 13 726 tonnes—a substantial increase of 69.0% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports rose by 46.8%, with an average annual growth rate of 13.6%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 6 200 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 33.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, Serbia, Ukraine, and Bosnia and Herzegovina were the key export destinations for Albania's edible brassicas, accounting for 40.1%, 10.6%, and 10.2% of total export volumes respectively. Together, these three countries represented 61.0% of Albania's total export flows.

Export values showed irregular fluctuations, indicating a volatile market environment. The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 865 thousand US dollars, while the peak occurred in 2020 with 5 573 thousand US dollars—a threefold difference between these years.
