The market volume for dried shelled legumes in Guyana grew from 7 168 t in 2018 to 8 438 t in 2021, driven by rising imports and domestic production. After this period of expansion, the market contracted to 7 257 t in 2022 before stabilizing at 7 199 t in 2023, reflecting a shift in import levels and production adjustments.

Guyana's production of dried shelled legumes saw a decline after two consecutive years of growth. In 2021, the country produced 2 805 tonnes, which was 4.7% lower than the previous year. Looking at the period from 2018 to 2021, overall production increased by 20.3%, with an average annual growth rate of 6.4%. The highest production level was recorded in 2020 at 2 944 tonnes, which also marked the largest annual increase of 25.8%.
