The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 boosted interest in mushrooms for health purposes, supporting domestic production growth that year. From 2023 onward, regional trade shifts became apparent, as Russia expanded its exports of dried mushrooms to Asian markets, and Mongolia maintained open import policies for Russian agricultural goods. These developments coincided with changes in Mongolia's import volumes for dried mushrooms.

While total market consumption dipped in 2023, production levels remained stable, indicating resilience in local output. The trade environment continued to evolve, with increased Russian exports and supportive financing mechanisms influencing the market structure.
