The market volume for dates in Eastern Asia saw a minor dip in 2019 before beginning a sustained upward trajectory. From 2020 onward, consumption grew consistently, adding over 20 thousand tons to reach 194.7 thousand tons by 2023.

This expansion was almost entirely attributable to a dramatic rise in imports, which grew by 155% between 2018 and 2023. Domestic production levels remained largely unchanged, hovering around 162 thousand tons annually, indicating that the market's growth was supplied from abroad.

The strong upward trend in imports continued into 2024, with volumes reaching 39.9 thousand tons, pointing to further market enlargement.
