This growth was driven by increasing demand from key industrial sectors such as automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, and heavy machinery. In 2020, however, market volume fell to 4 177 t as supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily affected production and trade.

Market volume continued to decline in 2021, reaching 3 860 t, before rebounding strongly in 2022 to 4 455 t and peaking at 5 331 t in 2023. The recovery and subsequent growth were supported by sustained industrial demand in the same sectors. In 2024, market volume decreased to 4 928 t, influenced by broader European Union market trends and trade dynamics.

Throughout the period, Croatia maintained one of the highest per capita consumption rates of cored welding wire in Europe, reflecting its strong industrial base and reliance on welding in manufacturing processes.

From 2017 to 2020, Slovenia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina were the largest contributors to Croatia's cored wire for arc welding exports in volume terms.
