The market for concentrated sweetened milk and cream in Trinidad and Tobago experienced a substantial contraction between 2018 and 2023, with total volume declining from 5.5 thousand tons to 3.9 thousand tons. This represented a drop of 28%, though the path was uneven: a sharp fall in 2019 was followed by a partial recovery in 2020 before a steady downward trend resumed.

Domestic production more than halved over this period, from 310 tons to 158 tons. Imports, which account for the majority of supply, fell from 5.7 thousand tons in 2018 to 3.8 thousand tons in 2023, before increasing to 4.4 thousand tons in 2024. Exports peaked at 833 tons in 2019 but then plummeted to just 34 tons by 2023, with a similar volume recorded in 2024. The dramatic reduction in exports after 2019 meant that a larger share of domestic production stayed in the country, but this was insufficient to offset the overall decline in available product.

In 2020, the country produced 232.3 tonnes, marking a 19.4% decrease compared to the previous year. In 2020, output was valued at 501.7 thousand US dollars, representing a 16.8% year-over-year decline. Between 2017 and 2020, production value decreased by 23.1%, with an average annual rate of decline of 8.4%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 655.7 thousand US dollars, which saw a modest increase of 0.5% that year.

Over the 2017-2020 period, exports increased by 4.9%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.6%. The peak volume was in 2019 at 833 tonnes, which saw a significant increase of 63.3% that year.

From 2017 to 2020, Barbados, Jamaica, and Belize were the leading destinations for Trinidad and Tobago's exports of concentrated sweetened milk and cream in volume terms. Barbados accounted for 39.5% of exports, Jamaica for 36.4%, and Belize for 7.4%, together making up 83.4% of total export flows.

The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 1 743 thousand US dollars, which experienced a 61.5% increase that year.
